At Northgate Dental Centre, we promise to do all we can to save your teeth. Our friendly Burnaby North dentist will walk you through the process and assess whether tooth extraction is required.
There are many reasons why we might recommend a tooth extraction. Your tooth may need to be extracted because it is poorly positioned in your smile, or to prepare your mouth for orthodontic treatment.
Your tooth may have developed an abscess, become badly decayed, or you may have developed advanced gum disease.
Our dental team will begin by placing a local anesthetic in the area surrounding your tooth. Once the local anesthetic takes effect, you should not feel pain in that area. If you experience any discomfort during the extraction procedure, our attentive team will be listening and ready to help you feel comfortable.
Good post-operative care is very important. During your extraction appointment, our helpful team will explain how you will care for your mouth after the extraction procedure. By following some simple steps, you can prevent any potential complications (such as an infection) following extraction.
Following your extraction procedure, you should eat only soft foods for a couple of days. You can add solid foods back into your diet as you heal. Since patients heal at different rates, this time varies.
The team at Northgate Dental Centre is looking forward to meeting you!
